Tex’s Weekend Wrapup

G’day everyone, Tex here. Well that’s another fantastic weekend behind us, hope you had a great one and were able to get out on the bike.

Just a reminder that it’s 4 days to go to the first round of the Twilight Criterium Series this Saturday afternoon at the Criterium Circuit. Now is the time to make sure your bike is running smoothly. If you think it needs a service or a once over by a bike mechanic I suggest contacting one of the local bike shops pronto! We certainly suggest you consider Bikeline.

2015 CQ Cycling Awards:

On Friday night our own Megan Stevens received the Senior Masters Female Track cyclist of the year. How awesome is that! Well done on a great year, Megan.

Also, Bikeline’s Nathan Graves picked up the Elite Male Track cyclist of the year award. A very worthy recipient there.

2015 Brisbane Kermesse presented by Tineli Australia

bris_kermesse

Bikeline Racing was well represented at the 2015 edition of the Brisbane Kermese. Matt Locker took out the win in Elite C after a solo breakaway in the early stages of the race. Daniel Luke was narrowly edged into 4th in a tight sprint for the 3rd tier of the podium in Elite B. Dan looked very comfortable out there and it’s only a matter of time for his promotion to Elite A. David Swann lined up in Masters C and Ashley Luke competed in the U17 race. Tom Galbraith and Adam Grams (TCC) succumbed to the conditions in Elite C and DNF’d but well done to you both for having a dig. Conditions early on in the morning were ok but lashings of rain made the Elite C/B races challenging to say the least, but the lads pushed on regardless.

Tuesday morning 5:05am Red Hill ride

Numbers have been good recently for the Red Hill loop on Tuesday morning. There are two options/paces for riders so if you aren’t keen to follow an A Graders wheel there is a shortcut with a couple of members regularly taking this option. The meeting spot is in front of the 7Eleven servo on Ruthven St. From next Tuesday the pace of the faster group will be controlled by ride captain Matt Sander and it will be appreciated if those taking part listen to Matt so that we make it fast but safe training ride. Remember we are riding on a highway from the CBD to Highfields until we turn left on the Meringandan Rd so if a single file call is made by Matt please ensure you heed his request.

Tex out.
