Thanks everyone for coming out. Nice weather and only a bit of wind made for some great racing. A good crowd watching too. (a few of them should have been racing:) There were a few riders riding for the first time and a few that hadn’t had a go for a while. Good efforts by all.
A GRADE: (4 riders) 1. Darren Rolfe 2. Seb Scott 3. Haydon Brooks :
Mixed with the B graders Seb and Pete Collins set the pace with the help of a few B graders. The pace was solid for most of the race. Darren and Haydon brought the the chase pack back up to the lead for a big sprint finish.
B GRADE: (17 riders) 1. Trent West 2. Wesley Keep 3. Jordan D’Arcy
With the A graders in the mix it was a tough day out for some. Trent helped set the pace all race. Wesley did well to rejoin the lead group after initially losing contact and a great ride by Jordan who continues to improve to pick up 3rd. Notable ride by Tory Watson to be in the mix at the end too.
C GRADE: (22 riders) 1. Tom Galbraith 2. Mitchell Hawley 3. Jason Seaby
The C graders stuck together most of the race witha a few unsuccessful attempts until 2 to go then Tom burst out of the blocks and before he knew it had a solid break. Reaction was slow initially and Tom rode well to hold off the chasing bunch for the final 2 laps. Mitchell and Jason won the bunch gallop and notably Cormac Carey was in the mix for 4th. Also good to see a few riders taking up the option of a 3 day licence just to get some race experience. John Cunningham:) and Scott Mazzanti both riding strong in C grade for newcomers.
D GRADE: (8 riders) 1. Phil Leyden 2. Stephen Dummett 3. Greg Webb
With no Andrea to keep Phil honest it, Phil got to the front and set a solid tempo and rode away with a convincing gap to take the win. Steven in his first race I believe rode well and also soloed to the line for 2nd. Greg improved as the race went on and moved up to 3rd. Good to see new comer Lachaln Stummer having a go too.
JUNIORS: (3 riders) 1. Nicholas Markey 2. Sam Haycock 3. Taylor Silk
The boys went from the gun and never giving up until the line was well and trully crossed. Sprinting hard to the end. Well done boys!
