The weather was perfect for the first round of the Club Crit Champs Series. There were over 40 riders registered for the day including 10 juniors. It was positive to see some new riders getting Day Licenses as well as some old faces coming out of retirement and signing up for the afternoon.
D grade was blown apart by early attacks from John who will now find himself racing B grade next time. C Grade stayed fairly well together for the whole race with it coming down to the last corner and the sprint from young boys.
B grade was interesting to watch with Raph testing the rest of the field with an early break. This was brought back fairly soon. Nick had a go a little later but it was not until a break of three including Aaron, Raph and Dave that really split the field. The break succeeded and it was an exciting sprint to the line. Raph and Dave were the favourites but it was Aaron who was able to hold until the line.
A grade had a quality field and there were any number of riders that could take it. The first two laps were held at quick pace until the group settled into some sort of rhythm. There were constant changes of pace with some riders attempting a break or at least not making it easy for the rest of the bunch. It came down to a bunch sprint and Seb was able to take it from Dave and Gary.
All in all a good afternoons racing.
