Since the last posting there have been a few things that have happened so here it is:
The National Road Series FKG Tour of Toowoomba was held back in June and for the second year was deemed a success. With a full roster of teams the racing was bound to be exciting and the stages were once again not kind to the riders. Could it get any harder next year? This year in conjunction with the Tour of Toowoomba was the Toowoomba Open Criterium which was an open event for all other licensed riders. There were a good number of riders up from Brissie for the day but the Toowoomba riders had the home town advantage and the results showed. Check theResults page for report.
In local events the TCC Boodua Road Race was held a fortnight ago with theGoombungee Road Race being held this Sunday by Bikeline Racing. This is a good chance to test the legs before the Charles Coin and Cunningham coming up. Results will be posted after this weekend.
Construction of the Toowoomba Criterium Facility at the Showgrounds is now well underway and is looking for completion sometime in November. Its taken nine long years by Bikeline Racing patron Kerry Cosgrove and former club member Ian Knox who were instrumental in getting this project started. There vision to see that Toowoomba needed a world class facility will now benefit every person in the area who rides a bike. Bikeline Racing President Jon Lindley chaired the technical committee which oversaw the design of the course with Secretary Justin Eastwell and member Brian Schmacker also being on the committee.Head out to Harvey Road for a look.
