Club Champs Crit Race 3

The Crit Series moved to Dalby this week courtesy of the Dalby Tri Club. The riders were treated to a closed road circuit which meant not having to worry about vehicles so the riders could really concentrate on the race itself.

Thank you to Brad Caporn for being Assistant Commissiare and providing the race notes.

Juniors ony had a small field of four riders with some of the “older” juniors racing D grade. Cormack Ebbage took out the under 12’s and Taylor Silk taking out the under 10’s.

D Grade had 10 riders front the start line for the 30minute plus 2 lap race. At the 10 minute mark four riders consisting of Mark Vainikka, Ben Wylie, Greg Rockliff and Michael Bond made a break. The break managed to stay away for the remainder of the race with it coming down to a sprint. Mark V. taking the win.

C Grade was merged with B Grade due to a lack of numbers. This made it a field of 21. They were racing for 40 minutes plus 2 laps and it was also to include a prime. Rod Lingard jumped from the start but was reeled back in before the 6 min mark. This must have hurt as he was dropped later at the 22 minute mark. His work for Team TLD done. At the 17minute mark four riders consisting of Raph V, Matt Le Dilly, Ashley Seawright and Matt Haswell made a sizeable break on the peloton. The prime whistle was blown at 23 minutes with Raph taking it easily.

The bunch caught the break at 27 minutes and was to remain together until the two laps to go was given when Raph V. jumped again and was able to stay away for the win. The other places came down to a bunch sprint with Dave “Cav” Silk taking second from Matt Le Dilly third.

A Grade had seven riders start with the race shortened to 40 minutes plus 3 laps. The first 20 minutes consisted of what looked to be planned attacks from Alex, Jacob and Kiwi, both individually and together. It wasn’t until the 25th minute when Pete and Kiwi jumped that it was to last for more than a couple laps. Ben had a quick wheel change at 37 minutes so had a lap out. Pete caught the bunch just after the 3laps to go signal so was effectively 1 lap up. He was to sit in with them and finish one lap early. Kiwi held his gap from the bunch to take second and third was taken by Peter Bennett after holding off Campbell in the sprint.

Thank you to all riders for attending and for riding safe. Thank you to Sam Beck, Jon Lindley and Brad Caporn for your asistance.
